December 2024 newsletter

As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a year of growth, change, and renewed connections at Sangam. This year brought fresh opportunities for our members, the Seniors’ Club, and the wider community to come together, share experiences, and create lasting memories!

Wednesday Hot Food Service
Throughout the year—come rain or shine—we provided hot meals under the Maitri Project to our local community. We ended the year on a festive note with our Christmas special, where we shared treats like mince pies and chocolate, spreading warmth and joy during the holiday season.

Yoga Classes
Our weekly yoga sessions have gone from strength to strength, with a growing number of regular attendees. It’s been great to see this community thrive, offering a space for health and relaxation.

Seniors Club
Our seniors have had a vibrant year filled with activities, friendship, and devotion. Weekly yoga sessions kept everyone active, while Satsang offered moments of reflection and togetherness. In September, the ladies embarked on a day trip to three temples in Leicester, where they shared a wonderful lunch together.

The festive spirit was alive and well at the Seniors’ Diwali Lunch in October, filled with delicious food, music, and dancing. December saw the year end on a high note with a Christmas lunch at Bombay Restaurant in Kingsbury.

Bridge Club
In March, we launched a new beginner’s bridge course, and our weekly Wednesday online bridge sessions provides an enjoyable space for members to hone their skills and socialise. In December, we celebrated the year’s end with a Christmas lunch for our bridge members.

Picture Day
In May, our centre was buzzing with activity as professional photographers captured the essence of Sangam. Staff, trustees, and members all took part, posing for photos that captured moments from our  activities and the services we provide. The result was a beautiful collection of images for our new website. It was wonderful to see the centre filled with energy and pride.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Our AGM took place in early October and we welcomed two new trustees to our 2024-2026 team—Shobhna Shah (a returning trustee) and Sadhna Karia (a new member of the Sangam Foundation). Members also got a first glimpse of our new website before enjoying a delicious Farari lunch together.

Diwali Dhamaka
On Thursday, 24th October, we celebrated the festival of lights in grand style with our Diwali Dhamaka. The event featured a live band, energetic dancing, a bustling marketplace, and a Garba lunch. Everyone looked fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed the festivities.
